In plain terms: PocketMC is a developer-driven local utility. While our maintainers prioritize reliability, automated crash safety, and chunk-integrity backup protocols, you run server software on your own computer hardware entirely at your own discretion.
3. Local Hosting & Server Administration Responsibilities
PocketMC is a local environment manager, not a commercial hosting provider.
Compute & System Maintenance
PocketMC does not supply server hardware, cloud VMs, or remote CPU capacity. You are solely responsible for:
- System memory allocation, cooling, and hardware stability.
- Operating system security updates and local antivirus exclusions.
- Maintaining adequate disk storage for world backups and logs.
Port Forwarding & Player Access
You retain full administrative control over network ingress and player permissions:
- Safeguarding server whitelist settings and OP permissions.
- Managing who is provided access to your public Playit.gg tunnel URLs.
- Configuring local router firewall rules when using UPnP port mapping.
Commercial Guidelines Compliance
By operating a Minecraft server instance through PocketMC, you agree to comply with:
- Mojang’s Minecraft End User License Agreement (EULA).
- Mojang Commercial Usage Guidelines for server monetization.
- Respecting intellectual property and server community standards.
Bandwidth & Power Consumption
Running continuous 24/7 server instances consumes electricity and residential network data:
- All ISP bandwidth caps and fair usage policies apply to your connection.
- Electricity costs remain the sole responsibility of the hardware owner.
- PocketMC provides idle auto-sleep features to minimize resource waste.
4. Third-Party Integrations & External Services
PocketMC interfaces with external software ecosystems governed by independent terms.
Adoptium & Upstream Engines
OpenJDK runtimes are retrieved from Eclipse Adoptium under the GPLv2 + Classpath Exception. Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge, BDS, and PocketMine-MP are subject to their respective project licenses.
Modrinth & CurseForge
Mods, plugins, datapacks, and shaderpacks installed via PocketMC remain the intellectual property of their respective creators and are subject to individual author licenses.
Playit.gg & Cloud Drives
Network tunneling services (Playit.gg) and cloud backup sync (Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox) are provided by third parties and governed by their terms and privacy policies.
5. Limitation of Liability
Explicit boundaries regarding world files and server availability.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL THE MAINTAINERS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATED DEVELOPERS OF POCKETMC BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM LOST GAME WORLDS, SERVER DOWNTIME, CORRUPTED CHUNK REGIONS, UNAUTHORIZED NETWORK ACCESS, HARDWARE DEGRADATION, OR LOSS OF DATA ARISING FROM THE USE OF THIS SOFTWARE.
